A Room with a View

I’ve only read excerpts, but given that a large part of that book is set in Florence, I thought it appropriate to share the view I fell asleep and woke up to every day for a week –

A side entrance to the Palazzo Vecchio, no less, with the Medici coat-of-arms watching over me: a dream from out a historical novel.

Just outside the medieval wall of Siena now, and I have this for a view –

Which do you prefer? A view that sings the allure of courtly intrigue and power, or one that inspires landscape painting, leisurely tea with cakes?

Mostly, I just wish I had my beloved here to share it with.
